Overview

Job Responsibilities

- Evaluate and select vendors based on criteria such as price, quality, service, support, availability, reliability, and selection.

- Negotiate contracts with suppliers to obtain the best terms and prices for goods and services.

- Develop and implement purchasing policies, procedures, and best practices.

- Monitor ongoing compliance with purchasing policies and procedures.

- Conduct regular market research to keep abreast of changing market conditions and product innovations.

- Review and process purchase orders and requisition forms for accuracy and compliance with organizational policies.

- Maintain detailed records of purchases, pricing, and other important data.

- Work closely with the inventory control and warehouse teams to ensure adequate stock levels.

- Address and resolve vendor grievances and claims against suppliers.

- Manage supplier performance and develop relationships to ensure business needs are met.

- Collaborate with internal departments to ensure that the purchased products and services meet their needs.

- Analyze trends in vendor pricing to make informed purchasing decisions.

- Coordinate with finance/accounting on matters involving inventory and payment discrepancies.

- Assist in the development of specifications for equipment, materials, and services to be purchased.

- Prepare and present reports on the performance of the purchasing department.

Job Requirements -

- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field preferred.

- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a purchasing or procurement role.

- Proficiency in purchasing software and ERP systems, such as workdays or Birchstreet preferred.

- In-depth knowledge of purchasing policies, procedures, and legal regulations.

- Excellent analytical skills to assess quality, price, and supply chain performance.

- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions with minimal supervision.

- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the capability to handle multiple tasks and priorities.

- Familiarity with market research, data analysis, and vendor sourcing practices.

- Effective communication and interpersonal skills for dealing with suppliers and internal stakeholders.

- Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and the ability to maintain comprehensive procurement records.

- Capability to assess risk and conduct cost-benefit analysis in the procurement process.

- Willingness to stay abreast of industry trends and advancements in procurement best practices.
