Opportunity:Director of Waterpark Operations
Directed all aspects of waterpark operations, overseeing daily functions, team performance, safety compliance, and guest experience initiatives. Managed and developed waterpark staff while ensuring seamless execution of recreation programs and activities. Administered operational standards, policies, and communication strategies to maintain exceptional service quality, operational efficiency, and high levels of guest satisfaction across the resort.
Essential Job Functions
- Responsible for providing exceptional enjoyable and safe pool/waterpark experience for resort guests commensurate with the demands and expectations of the resort.
- Recruit, hire, train, and evaluate aquatics and recreation staff regularly.
- Coaching and developing others, promoting teamwork, and a positive work environment.
- Communicate effectively with both internal and external customers to de-escalate concerns, gather accurate information, and resolve conflicts professionally and efficiently.
- Implement and direct activities and special events programs using themed concepts for all the resort.
- Drives overall guest satisfaction scores.
- Manage annual operational budget and revenue.
- Builds and manages relationships with appropriate vendors responsible for providing any service to the resort.
- Ensure the waterparks are in compliance with Florida Department of Health, pass all inspections, work closely with F&B, Engineering, Housekeeping, Security team with regards to waterpark operations.
- Ensure and remain in compliance with StarGuard or Ellis & Associates Lifeguard training & certification, as needed.
- Responsible for Cabana Sales, pool services including towel issuance and inventory.
- Responsible for canceling or shutting down Waterparks, various equipment, activities, special events when weather or other conditions pose a safety hazard.
- Assists in monthly inventory of department operating supplies, uniforms, and first-aid and guest supplies and places orders, as needed.
- Maintain and supervise the overall pool deck cleanliness.
- Conducts monthly checks for AED, backboard and supplemental oxygen supplies.
- Conducts pre-shift meetings.
- Maintains a working knowledge of emergency procedures.
- Maintains and tracks incidents reports and complete trending on a monthly and quarterly basis.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
- 3 years of experience in manager role or 1 year in director role preferable in a hotel/Waterpark/recreation operation.
- Previous recreation experience.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Lifeguard Certification including CPR and First Aid a plus
Work Environment and Context
- Frequently standing up and moving about the pool/Waterpark areas.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
- Must be able to work long hours and be able to handle stressful conditions.
- Wet and/or humid conditions.
- Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, extreme cold, and extreme heat.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
