The Kitchen Mechanic is responsible for maintaining, modifying, troubleshooting, and repairing a large inventory of electric and gas kitchen equipment and appliances.

Essential Functions

  • The kitchen mechanic's responsibilities include carrying out the documentation of procedures, processes, and best practices in on-plan sets and end-user manuals, or modifying what has previously been documented.
  • Assist with preventative maintenance and complete work orders related to replacing and repairing kitchen equipment and appliances.
  • The mechanic also provides on-site support during special events as well as during off hours, holidays, and weekends.
  • Conduct inspections and maintain the Preventative Maintenance and Room Care.
  • Assist with repairs as needed which may require climbing a ladder and/or working on a roof.
  • Troubleshoot and repair kitchen equipment.
  • Assist with room calls.
  • Perform minor plumbing functions.
  • Trace and repair all types of water lines.
  • Focus on guest satisfaction scores and work toward increasing departmental and overall guest

    satisfaction.

  • Follow Service Recovery Guidelines.
  • Follow sustainability guidelines and practices related to HHM’s EarthView program.
  • Practice safe work habits, wear protective safety equipment and comply with MSDS and OSHA standards.
  • Perform other duties as requested by management.
Position Requirements
  • High School diploma and Trade school course work in related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in a maintenance/engineer capacity.
  • Ability to properly investigate problems with food equipment, discover the issue, and correct it.
  • Repair and maintenance experience in the commercial kitchen or dining service field.
  • Strong knowledge of plumbing repair and installation practice and procedure.
  • Strong knowledge of basic electrical practice, theory, and safety.
  • Strong knowledge of the fundamentals of commercial refrigeration practice and theory.
Work Context
  • Work schedule varies and mayinclude working on holidays and weekends and alternate shifts.
  • Requires standing for extended periods, walking, pushing, lifting up to 50 pounds, bending and reaching,kneeling, stooping, crawling and climbing.
