Essential Job Functions
- Make charter fishing reservations.
- Greet prospective customers and provide information regarding fishing charters, pricing, and fishing vessel limitations.
- Assist boaters in reserving slips in accordance with their and their vessel needs, i.e. proper slip size pursuant to size of vessel, finger dock if needed, proper amperage.
- Communicate with incoming Vessel Owners via 2-Way VHF radio equipment in accordance with the rules and procedures set forth by the Federal Communications Commission.
- Greet and assist marina guest vessels at their assigned slips in docking, tying, and fendering their vessels with consideration of tides, and with Marina personnel safety in mind.
- Ensure that utility lines (power, water, cable TV) are properly connected to guest vessels.
- Continually observe, monitor and operate the Fuel Dock in a safe manner within established policies regarding safety, sanitation and accident prevention keeping dock area clear of non-fueling boats.
- Promptly and swiftly respond to fuel spills or accidents, immediately reporting any incident to Dock Master and Director of Operations.
- Report danger or damage to marina dock, dock slips, or dock electrical boxes and report it to Dock Master.
- Assist with tracking inventory needs associated with the Marina Fuel Dock: i.e. ice, oil supplies, absorbent pads, and fuel spill materials.
- Make cash drops; ensure that all credit card receipts, cashier audits and house status reports are turned in and prepare daily fuel reports.
- Follow sustainability guidelines and practices related to HHM’s EarthView program.
- Practice safe work habits, wear protective safety equipment and follow MSDS and OSHA standards.
- Perform other duties as requested by management.
Position Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Knowledge of placing, tying, and fendering docking vessels in consideration of tides.
- Knowledge of local waters/waterways and fishing is a plus.
- Boating experience or previous dock hand experience a plus.
Work Environment and Context
- Work schedule varies and may include working on holidays and weekends.
- Requires standing for extended periods, walking, pushing, lifting up to 75 pounds, bending and reaching, stooping, kneeling, or crouching.
- Must be able to swim.
