Learning and Development Manager - The Fifth Avenue Hotel

Flaneur Hospitalitys flagship property, The Fifth Avenue Hotel, is seeking a Learning and Development Manager to join the executive leadership team for the opening of a 150-room five star hotel. Carved out of an oasis of comfort and calm in the middle of bustling Manhattan, mindfully blending personal service, superlative design, distinctive cuisine, compelling art, and engaging cultural experiences. Every aspect of The Fifth Avenue Hotel is tailored to delight, engage and foster curiosity in our guests and team members.

The LD Manager will possess a background in training development, execution and human resources with understanding and experience building culture and team member relations. We are specifically seeking an accomplished professional with the drive and capacity to inspire and lead learning and development in a newly branded luxury hospitality environment.

The Learning and Development Manager reports to the Director of People Culture.

Your Focus

  • Be the Brands culture ambassador and assist in creating the formal and informal programs needed to ensure our team members have an incredible experience working at The Fifth
  • Create an environment where our team members can experience The Fifth Avenue Hotel in the way of a flaneur, where every detail is curated, tells a story and leaves a lasting impression
  • Strategically align LD initiatives with the Hotels business needs.
  • Create the training and development programs that will be implemented for the team members including orientation, departmental training, legally required training etc. Ensure this calendar continuously evolves and there is consistent participation and consistency.
  • Develop, and conduct orientations that delight, engage and reward curiosity.
  • Lead the relationship with Forbes Travel Group and Master Connections
  • Organize and plan for the Forbes training and evaluations
  • Achieve the Forbes 5 Star rating
  • Own the pre-opening training calendar and planning needed for the various sessions
  • Conduct regular needs assessments of training and development programs to ensure that the content is relevant and meets the current needs of the hotel.
  • Provide metrics and reporting to evaluate the effectiveness of training and development initiatives.
  • Create a team member mentorship program.
  • Keep accountability through a firm, fair and consistent culture.
  • Partner with Director of People Culture on employee relations and other Human Resources generalist duties
  • Collaborate with the Director of People and Culture to support a succession planning initiative aimed at developing a strong talent bench in the organization.
  • Create efficient e-learning programs to facilitate the career development of mid-level supervisors and department leaders.
  • Develop a strong relationship to ensure training alignment with all hotel partners to deliver upon our #oneteam strategy as it relates to guest experience.
  • Act as a voice for diversity and inclusion through the design and delivery of initiatives, projects, and programs.

Your Background

  • Bachelors degree preferred
  • 5 years of learning and development management experience within a luxury hotel
  • Experience working with Forbes Travel Guide
  • Hotel pre-opening experience preferred.
  • Superior organizational and communication skills.
